It has been Milans turn to show off their creative flare, and first up; Gucci. Probably one of the most eagerly anticipated shows.
The collection had a strong military and equestrian theme with trousers worn with flat riding boots and accessorized with a stirrup clasp bag. Lots of mink furs and chiffon. The cape is also still a trend that is sticking around after being seen on the Gucci runway.
Next up Prada. The fashion house known for dictating trends every season, displayed lots of black and mosaic creations.
The show opened with high collared black cashmere coats glittering with dazzling stones, then a splash of colour with trouser suits of orange, blue, and purple. Purple being a colour also highly featured in Christopher Kane’s collection previously. Trousers were turned up with yet more of the stone detailing, to reveal Mary Janes or brogues. Handbags were either statement sized or discreet.
Not to be out done; Versace hit back with a fierce fetish collection. Chainmail dresses with structured designs, lots of black leather and metal detailing worn with fishnet, knee-high socks and heels. Key trends were metal studs; jewelled crosses; crystal adornment; velvet and leather pencil skirts and fitted leather biker jackets. Colour wise it was again mainly black that was favoured but with the odd shock of yellow, orange or white to add interest.
